

Daniel E. Stephens, age 58, of Conyers, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 surrounded by family and friends, after a long, courageous fight with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2103 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, Horis A. Ward Chapel, at 3:00 pm, with Rev. Pat Buchanan officiating.
A New York Native, Mr. Stephens graduated from Carmel High School in 1973 and received an Associate’s degree from DeKalb Community College later in life. Mr. Stephens was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1973-1976 as a Radar Technician. He and his family moved to GA in 1990 and he later retired from a long career at AT&T. Mr. Stephens then became a Motorcycle Safety Instructor for the State of GA. His sense of humor, positive attitude, and love for his family always shone through wherever he went and his spirit will truly be missed by all those that encountered this great man throughout his life.
A loving father, proud grandfather, and noted family-man, he is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Stephens-Franklin & Kaitlin Stephens –Todd; grandchildren J. Wesley Franklin, IV, Lillian Todd, & Lucas Todd; father Martin Stephens; sister Dorinda (Bryant) Palmer; nephew David ( Jannette) Palmer and children, David & Cody; niece Stacy (Brian) Roe and children, Zachary & Justin; nephew B. Clayson (Christine) Palmer and daughter, Brittnay.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Stephens; brothers Douglas Stephens & Martin David Stephens; nephew Bryant Clayson Palmer Jr.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:00pm-3:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
