Darnell found joy and purpose in the art of beading—creating pieces with care, making and selling her beaded crafts, and sharing her knowledge by teaching beading classes. Her hands were often busy with her work, and her home and gatherings were made warmer by her gift in the kitchen, especially her delicious macaroni salad.
Remembered for a spirit that filled a room, Darnell was talkative and outspoken, with a sense of fun and a unique laugh that those who knew her will not forget. She carried herself with courage and conviction, unafraid to stand up for what she believed. At the same time, her heart was generous—caring, giving, and ready to help those in need.
Darnell is survived by her son, Bluesky Stone; her significant other, Benny Vavages; her mother, Katherine; and her siblings, Debbie Garcia, Randall Stone Jr., Samuel Stone, and Shawn Stone. She was preceded in death by her father, Randall Sr., and her daughter, Chrissell Roberta Stone-Phillips.
