Edward Gilbert McCann, 99, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on October 19, 2025. Born on February 7, 1926, in El Paso, Texas, to Edasto and Anna McCann, Edward was a hard-working, kind-hearted, generous, devoted, and compassionate man.
From a young age, Edward demonstrated his natural talent for sales. At just five years old, he and his older cousin were each given a bucket of eggs to sell to the neighbors of Fabens, Texas and the townspeople. When his cousin struggled to sell any eggs, Edward consoled him and promised to help once he had sold his own, a promise he kept. His early life was marked by a dedication to his community; he served on the Florence School Board in the early 1960s and was the Director of the Florence Centennial in 1966. Edward was also Grand Marshall of the Florence Elks Lodge and owned the Florence Department Store for 23 years. He later started an import business in Phoenix, selling religious items such as crosses, statues, and rosaries, continuing his passion for his business until the age of 98.
Edward's marriage to his wife, Ana, was a testament to his devotion. For 40 years, they traveled everywhere together. He was a great husband, a hard worker, and a provider for his family.
His compassion extended beyond his immediate surroundings. During his travels to Mexico, Edward would help families in need, whether by providing food, assisting with medical bills, helping with rent, or paying for funeral services. He loved helping the community there.
Edward's charisma, bright smile, generous and kind heart, and strong connection with people made him a great salesman. Selling was not just a profession for him; it was a passion that engulfed his heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ana, his daughters Laura, Norma, Tomi, Jotina, Mima, four grandchildren, two great granddaughters and one great-grandson who is a splitting image of him. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Edward Gilbert McCann's legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication to family and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
