Known to many as “Fernie,” and to his family as “Pinchon,” Fernie will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection for the steady warmth he brought into the lives around him. He carried an easy kindness and a genuine interest in others—someone the community knew as a true friend, always ready to ask if you wanted something to eat or drink and was always glad to share what he could.
Fernie loved his late wife, Michelle, dearly, and he held close the joy of family—especially his grandkids, Jordan Ray and Chanelle. His devotion to those he loved was matched by a sincere love of life itself, expressed in the simple, meaningful moments he treasured.
He found peace and pleasure outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping, and he took special delight in looking for rocks and collecting them. At home, he was an amazing cook, known for making the best menudo and baked bread. He also loved music and dancing, and, most of all, he loved God and going to church.
Fernie is survived by his daughter Denise; his siblings, Irene, Rudy, Delia, Alice, Elvia, and Eva; his two grandkids; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Michelle; his parents, Ernesto and Angelita Figueroa; and his siblings Ernesto Jr., Gloria, Maggie, and Michael “Boy.”
