Francis was a true competitor at heart. He was a bull rider, team roper, and bareback rider who loved the thrill of the arena and the challenge of competition. When he wasn’t riding, he could often be found chicken-scratch dancing and enjoying life to the fullest. He had a deep love for horses, especially his beloved horse, Blue.
Above all, Francis cherished his family. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren fiercely and always made time for each of his sons and daughters. He never missed an opportunity to say, “I love you,” leaving no doubt about how much family meant to him.
Francis is survived by his sons and daughters: Francine, Andrea and Autumn Enos, Roberta Javier, Blaine Thompson, Mary Frances Martinez, Francis Martinez Jr., Melvin Thompson, Franiza Thompson, Lichelle Blackwater, Angel Burnette, Miguel Ramirez, Jonathan Jackson, Erica Martinez, Curtis Martinez, Reinaldo Castro, and Ximena Martinez; his brothers, Stanley Darrell and Rupert Miguel, Sheryl Whitman; more than 58 grandchildren; and more than 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son and daughters, Truman Enos, Michelle Burnette, and Edwina Paula Cruz; his parents, Daniel and Marci Martinez; and his siblings, Albert Hernandez, Curtis Martinez, and Corine Miguel and his stepfather Vince Fernandez.
Francis will be remembered for his competitive spirit, his love of horses, his laughter, and the unwavering love he showed his family.
