

Joel Thomas Lasiloo, 45, of Santan, passed away on August 4, 2025. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Darrel and Noreen Lasiloo on August 15, 1979. Joel was a deeply intelligent and accomplished individual. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Arizona State University and remained a lifelong learner. His intellect and curiosity defined him—once he set his mind to something, he pursued it with excellence.
He was a gifted flute player, earning recognition and awards throughout high school and college. Before facing health challenges that led to a leg amputation, Joel was also an avid runner. He had a deep love for movies and pop culture, and an eclectic taste in music that reflected his wide-ranging interests.
Those who knew Joel appreciated his unique way of caring—quiet, steadfast, and sincere. He was known for his sense of humor, sharp insights, and a household full of beloved dogs that brought him joy and companionship.
Joel is survived by his loving parents, Darrel and Noreen Lasiloo; his brother Luke Lasiloo and sister-in-law Christina; and his cherished nephew Elliot, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Carol Quetawki; and many beloved aunts: Patricia Allison, Claudina Rodriguez, Susan Allison, Harriet (Larson) James, Jennifer Allison, Angela Allison, Doris Sabori, Karen Wise, Geraldine Enriquez, Marguerite Poblano, Yvette Quetawki, and Ada Sheka.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Pensancio Lasiloo; his maternal grandparents, Harry Allison and Dora Miles; and his aunts and uncles: Lena Nadine Terry, Marilyn Peters, Kathleen Enos, Lori Lasiloo, Brian, Clyde, and Travis Lasiloo, and Franklin and Cecil Allison.
Joel will be remembered for his sharp mind, creative talents, deep love for his family, and the quiet strength with which he faced life’s challenges.
