Matthew Dion Setoyant

Matthew Dion Setoyant, 28, of Blackwater, passed away on June 6, 2026. Matthew was born on June 26, 1997, in Chandler, Arizona, to Geneva Matthews and Lucius Setoyant Jr. Known affectionately by family and friends as "Mackie," Matthew was the youngest in his family and brought joy, laughter, and love to those closest to him.

Matthew was a homebody who found comfort in being surrounded by family and the familiarity of home. He worked at Gila River Casinos and was known for his quiet nature, yet outspoken. He enjoyed spending his free time playing his PlayStation 5, listening to music, watching wrestling, and following his favorite superhero, Spider-Man.

Matthew appreciated life's simple pleasures. He loved cold cut sandwiches, especially bologna, and his favorite meal was his mother's fried bread and beans. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. Some of his happiest moments were singing karaoke with his nieces and nephews and sharing laughter with those he loved most.

Matthew is survived by his loving mother, Geneva Matthews; his father, Lucius Setoyant Jr.; his siblings, Melanie and Dylan Johns, and Hiawatha Setoyant; and his grandparents, Lucius Sr. and Joy Setoyant, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ira and Imogene Matthews, and Sonja Norris; and his uncles, Ted Matthews, Wayne Setoyant, and Dustin Setoyant.

Matthew's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His kindness, love for family, and the special moments he shared with those around him will never be forgotten.
