Throughout her life, Zena held her family closest. Her love for them was steady and unmistakable, and she found her greatest joy in her grandchildren, who meant everything to her.
Zena embraced life with a warm spirit and an open heart. She loved being outdoors—swimming, enjoying the day, or gathering for a game of dominoes. She also loved to dance, especially cumbia, and brought energy and lightness wherever she went. Known for her cooking, she took pride in caring for others in practical, generous ways, and could have a meal ready in 30 minutes.
Those who knew Zena will remember a gentle, deeply caring presence—someone who gave affection freely and made people feel welcome. She loved to smile and laugh, and had a gift for making others laugh with her. Often the life of the party, she also offered comfort in the simplest, most sincere way: Zena was a hugger. She shared a close bond with her aunt Vicky, whom she considered her second mom and who raised her. She also dearly loved her dogs.
Zena is survived by her children Rachell, Breanna, Javier Jr., and Teresa; her significant other Javier Calleja Sr.; her siblings Michael, Rhea, Josephina, Dynell, Lelisa, Anthony, Jeffery, and Guillermo; her aunt Vicky; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
