His wife Sandra of 37 years preceded him in death in 1991.
Allen proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan where he repaired and maintained military aircraft. After his service, he worked for New Mech for 43 years as a foreman. He was a proud member of Local Union 10 (the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers) for 70 years.
He is survived by beloved children and grandchildren: his daughters Peggy (Doug) Spurgeon and daughters Catherine Spurgeon (Aaron Easker) and Emily Spurgeon (Mitch Alexander), Dr. Nancy Erickson, in addition to his son Ross (Julie) Erickson, daughters Leslie (Cody) Lorentzen and Andrea (Devan) Raines, and great-grandchildren Owen and Reagan Raines. He is survived by Joyce Nelson, his longtime childhood friend. He is also survived by his brother, Leroy Erickson and his family.
Evening Visitation on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 4pm to 8pm at Gearhart Funeral Home 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids. Funeral Service at 11am on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Gearhart Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial at Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Allen's name to Anoka County Animal Humane Society.
