Cathy Marie Homan

A beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and daughter. Cathy was born on December 2, 1955, to Geraldine Elizabeth and Lyle Allen McNair in Minneapolis, MN.

She married her husband Michael John Homan on September 5, 1975. They settled in Coon Rapids, MN where they raised four remarkable kids who do them both proud.

Cathy worked her adult career at FMC/United Defense/BAE Systems as an assistant librarian. She also worked for several years part-time at Michael's craft store in the framing department, which helped to cultivate her creativity.

Cathy was artistic, naturally sporty, and never short on sass. She had a sharp eye and a sensitive, creative heart. Her love of crafting was extensive. She spent years painting ceramics with Mike and her sisters at a local craft store. She started card-making after joining a Close to My Heart club with a few of her sisters, she attended Scrapbook fest at the Mall-of-America and spent hundreds of hours on her Kindle/iPad scrolling through Pinterest and watching craft videos on YouTube.

She loved going to the races through Mike and Mikey’s driving careers and playing cards and dice with her siblings and friends.

Cathy loved nature, and traveling with her family. In the early years the took yearly cross-country vacations – where there were plenty of adventures and various breakdowns.

In later years, Cathy and Mike would plan “Christmas” excursions with Cathy’s oldest sibling Pam. Wherever they went, there had to be a Christmas store or two to visit.

Cathy loved Christmas. It was her favorite season of the year, but for Cathy, it was all year long. She watched Hallmark Christmas shows and listened to Christmas music year-round.

Cathy is survived by her husband Michael Homan; children: Katie Homan, Michael (Jana) Homan, Erin (Joseph) Grabanski, Sarah Lungelow; grandchildren: Brooklyn, Nautica, Devon, Jovan (Verona), Dennis, Bailey, Taya, Landon, Dasean, Lylo, Emma, and her soon to be born great-grandchild Maria; siblings: Pam McNair, Colleen Hagerman, Jeff McNair, Mother-in-law Joanne Homan, brother and sisters-in-law: William Homan, Rosie Bahl, Francie Kraus, Mary Jo Homan. In addition, Cathy had, and loved many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Cathy is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Geraldine and Lyle McNair, her sister Jennifer (Chi Chi) Spilde and her father-in-law William Homan.

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Cathy will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may to made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
