David Robert Austin, aged 60, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024 while surrounded by loving family members.
David was born in Minneapolis, MN on September 10, 1964 to Joan and Lloyd Austin of Coon Rapids, MN. He was the youngest of three children. He attended Coon Rapids High School.
Preceded in death by his father Lloyd, his mother Joan, his sister Debra Humrick. Survived by one brother Daniel Austin, brother-in -law Mike Humrick, daughter Brianna Austin (Shawn), son Andrew Treichel (Penni), grandsons Zayn Treichel and Elliot Kosloski, first wife Cheryl Freese, second wife Leah Paulsen-Austin, nephews Jon Dolinich (Larisa), Scott Humrick (Sarah) and many beloved Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends.
David had a strong work ethic from a young age. His first job as a child was selling Christmas Cards. He later sold snow cones in the neighborhood. He was always seeking better opportunities. He served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves. He worked as a civilian Helicopter Maintenance mechanic at the former Army Reserve Base at Holman Field in St Paul, MN. He worked as a conductor and as an engineer for Canadian Pacific Railway, following in his father Lloyd Austin’s footsteps. He was a natural tinkerer and enjoyed working with his hands.
David loved nature and the outdoors, and often took his family camping, fishing, canoeing and hiking. He was good natured and humorous, frequently telling Dad jokes. He showed his affection by gently ribbing friends and family and by giving humorous nick-names to the kids and their friends.
The visitation, service, and luncheon will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church, 20 Northdale Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55448 with Pastor Valerie Brown-Greenly presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The service will begin at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow the service.
