Dick Spanjers

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 20, 2022.

Dick was born on March 25, 1936, to William and Margaret (Walsh) Spanjers in Robbinsdale, MN. He was the third of four children. He retired from Peavey/Conagra after 30 years of service. Dick spent a lot of this time fishing, hunting, working on the hobby farm, watching and playing sports and watching westerns with his dog, Marley.

He fulfilled a lifelong dream with a trip to Alaska and would have stayed “if he was younger”. Now he can spend an eternity in the wild wilderness he loved.

Dick is survived by his wife, Jackie Spanjers, of Princeton; daughters, Donna (Dale) Mason, of Clackamas, OR, Kathy Erickson, of Princeton, Darrnel (Bob) Aschenbach, of East Bethel, Tammy (James) Anderson, of Coon Rapids; six grandchildren, Christine (James), DeeAnn (Crosby), Jerry (Stacie), Brittany (Shane), David (Sami), Travis (Patty) and Ryan; 8 great-grandchildren. Also survived by many family, friends and relatives.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard; brothers, Donald and Billy; sister, Dorothy; and son-in-law, Tom.

A special thank you to Fairview Princeton Hospital, St. Croix Hospice St. Cloud and Ginny Spain for the care and support provided to Dick and his family.

A burial for Dick will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Morningside Memorial Gardens, 11800 University Ave., Coon Rapids, Minnesota 55448.

A a celebration of life will occur Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM at Tammy and James Home, 806 Northdale Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, Minnesota 55448.

Due to the unexpected, recent death of Jackie Spanjers this will be a double celebration for Jackie and Dick. And due to circumstances out of our control the location has changed and unfortunately there will not be room for campers. If you do want to camp Bunker Hills campground is just miles away and there are many hotels in the area. If weather permits we have a 24' above ground pool that is 4' deep and plans for a bonfire that evening. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. if you prefer alcohol, please bring your own. this event is rain or shine, we have canopy tents
