My first memory of her was many years ago when I took my son the old Guthrie to see "A Christmas Carol" . When we were finding our seats I heard a "Hi, Jan!" and it was Donna in her role as volunteer usher. In recent years I loved bringing her soup and visiting with her. She was the most gracious, dignified, elegant yet humble lady I have ever known. She also was a good listener and had an awesome memory for details of our conversations that she would ask me about at my next visit. She loved me and I loved her and there is such great joy and satisfaction in having shared that time with her. I count knowing and being with her as one of the great blessings of my life and I am grateful to have had the chance to visit her and sing the Divine Mercy Chaplet to her the day she passed away. I know she is in heaven loving and praying for all of us. She had phenomenal talents and she raised a beautiful family who share her beautiful gifts of hospitality and kindness. She is a great witness for our Catholic faith and the prime example of a life well lived. May our happy memories bring comfort to us all.
