With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Douglas Wane Claypool, age 74 of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, who peacefully transitioned from this world on December 3, 2025. Born on June 22, 1951, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Doug carried with him the quiet strength, steady devotion and gentle spirit that defines his life’s journey.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill, and Ramona Claypool, and is sister Diane (Mike) Wallace of Braham, Minnesota. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Lislie (Lidke) Claypool, whose partnership with Doug reflected a lifetime of shared love, perseverance, and unwavering commitment He is also survived by his daughters, Corrin Secrist and Mackenzie Gerding (John); and by his cherished granddaughters Gracia Forbis, Emelia Gerding and Eleanor Gerding, who brought him immense pride and joy. Doug is further survived by his brothers, Donald Claypool and Richard Claypool.
Doug’s early years took him through many elementary and middle schools across Minnesota before he graduated from Anoka High School in Anoka, Minnesota. In 1981, he married Lislie, and together they built a beautiful life and raised their two daughters in the Blaine, Minnesota area in a home filled with love, laughter, and the steady foundation that only a devoted father and husband can provide.
In his working years, Doug was employed by Coca-Cola Company in Minneapolis, and later by Midwest Finishing Company in Brooklyn Park, where he dedicated many years of faithful service before retiring in 2016. His work ethic reflected who he was at heart: dependable, steady, and quietly strong.
Doug found deep joy in all things classic and automotive. Old care was not merely a hobby, but a lifelong passion, one that carried him to countless local car shows, evenings watching automotive programs, and many hours poring over magazines and books that spoke to his love of craftsman ship and history. These moments brought him peace, excitement, and a childlike spark that never faded.
Though his physical presence has left this world, Doug’s story continues to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His steady presence, kind heart and enduring devotion remain woven into the lives of his family and friends. Love, after all, does not end, it simply changes form.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 11115 Hanson Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, Minnesota 55433, on December 15, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m., and Luncheon to follow.
