Doug was born July 10, 1947 in Staples, MN. As a child he loved family time at the cabin up north on the lake. In 1976 Doug began his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He loved to be a Fisher of Men and sharing the Gospel was most important to Doug - this was his mission. Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved the Lord his Saviour, and his family from near to far. Doug was a proud member of the Coon Rapids Evangelical Free Church as well as numerous AA Groups, ministering to prisoners and shut ins about how Jesus had saved him from his addiction. He was the head of the CREF Trap Shooting Leagues - organizing events and participation.
He worked hard to provide for his family, who are the most important in his life. This was evident in his everyday life - most of all he loved Jesus Christ. He knew his need for his Saviour, and he never took that lightly. We rest in knowing that he is in Heaven, rejoicing with our Lord and Saviour. He would want everyone he knew, that the most important thing is our Salvation. Repent of your sins, know that Jesus died for your sins, and through obedience and faith you will be able to see Him again one day for eternity.
He is preceded in passing by his parents, John and Joyce Vasecka; brother-in-law, Chuck Cave; sister-in-law, Randy Vasecka; in-laws, Lois and Harold Zerk, Mickey Johnson, Rod Zerk, Freddy Zerk, and Debbie Bailey.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Robin Vasecka; children, Troy Vasecka and Kelli Kampff; grandchildren, Randall and Reed Kampff; siblings, Glen Vasecka, Joan (Dave) Smith, and Karen Cave; brothers-in-law, Scott Zerk and Jacque; Tim Bailey, and many other family members and friends.
