Eddie was born July 1, 1941 in Jefferson, Iowa to Max and Anna Miller, the eldest of their five children. When Eddie was 5 years old the family moved to Columbia Heights, MN where he attended elementary school and graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 1959.
In his teen years Eddie began working at Miller Brothers TV in Columbia Heights, owned by his father Max and uncle Ernie. In 1974 he left the family business to work for Norstan Communications, a private telephone company that sold and maintained business phone systems. He enjoyed his work and formed many lasting friendships with co-workers. He was dedicated to his job and in1992 he was honored as Norstan’s first “Legend” employee. Eddie retired from Norstan as a Technical Support Manager in April 2005 after 31 years of employment.
Eddie loved life and lived it to the fullest. Those who knew him well know that he always ran at “full-throttle”. He had a variety of interests over his lifetime, including several years of drag racing, bowling league, fishing, snowmobiling, and boating the St. Croix River. Over the years Eddie and Mary had several different boats docked at the St. Croix Marina in Hudson, WI. They were members of the Wild River Yacht Club and Eddie served on the Board of Directors for several years. After his retirement Eddie spent his summers on the boat. They were in the Marina for 27 years. He and Mary wintered on South Padre Island, TX for 17 years. They made frequent day trips to Nueveo Progreso, Mexico and made many friends there.
Eddie is survived by Mary Petron, his loving mate of 47 years; daughters Denise (Bob) Beckman, Wendi Buzick, son Jim (Rhonda) Miller; grandchildren Justin (Kristyan) Beckman, Kriistin Beckman, Amanda (Brad) Martens, Curtis (Katie) Miller; Caitlin (TJ) Lutgen; great-grandchildren Berkley, Bryce, Natalie, Carter, Nash, Maize, Kennedy; sisters Linda Folta, Sue (Vic) Krestsch; Sandy (Cliff) Romberg..
Also survived by bonus family: sons Steve (Roxanne) Petron, Brad (Lisa) Petron; grandchildren Jordan Downey, Tyler (Katie) Petron, Samantha Petron, Melissa Petron; great-grandchildren Olis, Josephine, Savannah.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Max & Anna Miller, sister Sherron Lancer, grandson Seth Petron.
