Sue was born November 21, 1935 in Hackensack, Minnesota.
Sue moved to the Twin Cities shortly after graduating from Akeley High School. There she met her husband, Walter "Scotty" Scott. They were married on December 7, 1957. She worked as a mechanical assembly worker for Honeywell Corporation and would later be employed as a cook manager for the Anoka-Hennepin School District while her husband was also employed by the district as school custodian. Together, Sue and Scotty raised four children in the Coon Rapids area and were married for 52 years until his death in 2010. They spent their summers up north on their land just south of Akeley, where the family enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Following Scotty's passing, Sue returned to northern Minnesota where she resided with her son Gary in Akeley until 2018, when she began residence at Edgewood May Creek in Walker. She enjoyed life on Gary's small farm and loved to have updates on the cows, pigs, and her beloved pets, Chloe (cat) and Gunner (dog) once she moved to May Creek.
At May Creek, Sue enjoyed reading as well as participating in weekly bingo and a small coloring group. She was able to find friendship with the other residents and staff and the family is particularly thankful for Susan, Sarah, Lezli, Vicki, and Little Joe, who were attentive to Sue's needs and always ensured that she was comfortable and happy to the best of their abilities. Sue was proud of her family and frequently showed off photographs of the younger grandchildren and great grandchildren to fellow residents.
Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Ridlon; her husband, Walter "Scotty" Scott; brothers, Glen, Ernie, and Lenard Ridlon and sisters, Pearl Ridlon Semmler and Betty Ridlon Thornton.
She is survived by her four children, Diane Scott Dietz (Kevin), Donna Scott Meyer (Mark), Greg Scott (Nancy), and Gary Scott (Lynde); eight grandchildren, Erik Dietz (Brianna), Chelsey Dietz Knealing (Charles),Megan Meyer Johnson (Jake), Justin Meyer, Caitlin Meyer (Ryan), Brandon Olson (Julie), Brecken Scott, and Bridger Scott; and four great grandchildren, Rylan, Layla, Annika, and Adeline.
She is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
A private family graveside service will be held at Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids, Minnesota on Saturday, December 12, 2020. She will be interred next to her husband Scotty and services will be officiated by Reverend Valerie Brown-Greenly of Peace Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids.
