I have so many wonderful memories of Grandma GiGi.  Grandma GiGi was a foster grandparent to students at Crossroads School and Bar None Residential Treatment Center for many years. I was blessed to have her in my classroom for  most of that time.  Her quiet, caring, spirit was a gift to  students and staff alike! Everyone loved her!  She read  with students daily and they loved spending this special one-to-one time with her.  She shared her love of reading  but, most importantly she shared  her peaceful, consistent, support from day to day with our struggling students.  Students loved to play games with Grandma. Everyone would rush to the table when it was break time to get the group game started.  Students felt accomplished if they were ever able to beat Grandma GiGi because they knew she was good at all games, followed the rules, played fairly, and was respectful when winning.  She taught them so much through her love of games and fun! 
She supported students that often displayed challenging behaviors. She understood how important the day to day tasks of reading, games, lunch, smiles, and life stories were for these students. She was “Our Grandma” and she was loved!

How lucky for us to have the privilege of living next door to this family. There were many St. Patrick's day parties where Gigi beat all of us in cards or dice. Nothing slow about her.  My fondest memories are when I visited and she told stories. One time she couldn't remember something and I said "but Gigi, you're 100". She looked at me in disbelief and said "is that how old I am?"  Well dear Gigi,  God didn't forget about you. He just wanted your family to have more time with you. Our love and sympathy to all.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Ramon; and Son-in-law, Delmar Balfany.  

She is survived by her two Daughters, Lois Balfany, and Patricia Beyer (David); 8 Grandchildren; 20 Great grandchildren; and 27 Great-great grandchildren
