Janet “Jan” Arlene Mattson, age 76, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, born October 26, 1945, ended her journey on the earth and went to be with her Lord on February 28, 2022, after a battle with Breast Cancer.
The daughter of Senja and Oscar Oswald of Cloquet, Minnesota.
She graduated from Cloquet High School in 1963. Worked at Northwest Paper Company until making the move to Minneapolis. There she worked at the Star Tribune Paper until getting married and starting a family. She worked at the H. C. Osvold Company for a number of years and then was employed at Catholic Elder Care in N.E. Minneapolis until retiring in 2016.
Jan was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Coon Rapids. She was very involved with the youth group in the 80’s. She had a very strong and deep faith, loved family, friends, cabin, bowling and Branson MO. She loved to watch the family interact at the cabin and the birds at the feeders during her quiet time.
Jan couldn’t wait to vacation with the whole family in Branson, MO., on several occasions and being able to take them all to see the Bible productions at the Sight and Sound Theatre and spending a day or two at Silver Dollar City Theme Park. She received the OK from her Doctor to make a trip to Branson this past October. She saw the production of Jesus at the Sight and Sound Theatre on October 26, the day of her 76 birthday.
Preceded in death by her parents Senja and Oscar Oswald; daughter Jodi; brother, Robert.
Survived by husband Dale; Daughter, Debi Mattson (Steve Casperson); Son Keith (Jamie) Mattson; Grandchildren Nara, Lucas Casperson, Mylie, Kalea and Finn Mattson; Sisters Karen Anderson of Mahtomedi, Carol Maki of Fallon, NV.
She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Peace Lutheran Church (20 Northdale Blvd. NW., Coon Rapids) Visitation 10:00 am until time of service.
