John was born September 26, 1947 in Owatonna, Minnesota. John graduated from Anoka High School in 1965. He was drafted into the Army and completed military police training at Ft. Gordon, Georgia. John was sent to Vietnam and was assigned as a door gunner with B Co. 123 Aviation Battalion. He was a life member of the VFW.
After his military service, John worked in the grocery business with Byerly Foods where he spent over 30 years. After retiring from Byerly Foods, John worked at CenterPoint Energy for an additional ten years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Irene; brother, Bruce; niece, Vicki Rojas; and brother-in-law, Tom Rojas.
John is survived by his brother Doug (Mariann); sister, Nancy Rojas; uncle, Ted (Carmen); and niece, Teresa Rojas. He is also survived by many cousins.
He and his sense of humor will be dearly missed by his relatives and many friends.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of life may be held at a later date. A private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will take place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
