Kiki,
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dad.  Mr. Koskinen was my first band director at Adams School and I remember the enthusiasm he had for the music and the encouragement he gave everyone, especially me. He is one of those influential people who made a permanent difference in my life. My sympathy to you and your family.

Dear Luanne and Chessie, I am so sorry to hear of Lauri's passing.  Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.  Take time to remember all the amazing memories you have of him.   Its the good times that will make this difficult time a little easier on you both.

Dear Luanne and family,

      I began teaching Elementary Vocal Music with Lauri at Johnsville School in Blaine,MN starting in 1972 just after my graduation from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.  I taught with him several years there.  I will always remember the HUGE job that Lauri had going from school to school each week constantly developing and growing the Band Program...year after year - school by school.  He built a solid and consistently wonderful Band program in each building every year, (which meant working with hundreds of kids each week,) despite the very little time he had with each band because of all the schools he had to teach at every week.  
     I will always remember how excited the all Band kids were each year to learn how to play their instruments, and to be a part of a school Band for the first time with him as their leader. Through his patience, understanding, inspiration and desire to impart his love of music with them, he built a wonderful Band program in Anoka-Hennepin School District that changed the lives of many of these Band members for a lifetime. And...perhaps that was his greatest gift - to be able to share his knowledge and love of music with so many kids and inspire them to lead successful, meaningful, and inspirational lives through the gift of music because of it. What a legacy he has left them, and all of us, as an inpiration to use our talents as a blessing for the Lord and others! 
    May God comfort your hearts and bring you peace at this difficult time.  Know that Lauri was a gift to many, and his kindness and inspiration with these kids will live on in their lives for a lifetime because of his love of music that he so richly shared with them and us.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mr. Koskinen was my first band director many years ago and taught me how to play the snare drum. He shared his love of music and inspired me to continue to play through college. I will remember his kindness, patience and belief in his students. My sincere sympathy.

As a young music teacher, I saw that Lauri Koskinen was one of those quiet and efficient band directors who moved from school to school, room to room, child to child, imparting his knowledge and love of music to each.  Now as a retired music teacher, I appreciate the man and what he accomplished even more.  My sympathy to the Koskinen family.  Thanks for sharing Lauri with the rest of us.

Kiki, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad.  Know that I am thinking much about you and praying for you and your family as you get through this time.  You have many great memories - cherish them.
