Born to Antonette Soukup and Michael Zahorsky on July 23, 1931 in Hunter Township, MN. She married Virgil Dean Domino on August 22, 1949 and together they had 13 children. She is survived by 10 children, Kathleen (Michael, deceased), Donna (Lee, deceased), Julie (Ken), Annette (Greg), Mary Jo (Dale), Paul, Keith, Bruce (Julie), April (Troy) and Melissa (Wes, deceased); 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Constance and Peggy; son, Charles; 2 grandchildren; and 5 sisters.
Loretta gave her heart and soul to volunteering and helping others. As a member of her church she did Stephen Ministry, coordinated, cooked & served meals at wedding & funeral lunches, Chaired the annual church carnival’s Country Store, & was a member of the Christian Council of Women. She was a member of Befrienders, visiting elderly in their homes, as well as delivering meals for Meals on Wheels. As a member of Alanon she sponsored many women through sobriety and received her 50-year pin in 2022.
Loretta was Past President of the St. Cloud, MN VFW Ladies Auxiliary & later the Chaplin for the Blaine VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a long-time blood donor and was a volunteer leader in the annual blood drives. She was also an election judge. Loretta loved to travel with her family, spend time at the lake and was an avid gardener. She cleaned homes until she was 84. Loretta will be laid to rest next to her deceased husband at Fort Snelling Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 5 to 7 pm (sharing service at 6:30 pm) at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN. Funeral will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, 707 89th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55434; visitation 9:30 am, service 10:30 am, lunch 11:30 am. Burial will begin at 2:00 pm at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, please arrive by 1:45 pm to Assembly Area #2.
