Marilyn grew up in Chokio, Minnesota, surrounded by her many brothers and sisters. She shared a special bond with her twin brother, Marvin, her “wombmate".
She married Lyle in 1958, and together they settled in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, where they raised their two children. Marilyn was deeply involved in their lives and activities, including Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls.
After her children were grown, Marilyn returned to work in the Lingerie Department at Donaldson’s Department Store as a Certified Bra Fitter, where she brought care, humor, and her expertise to the people she helped.
Marilyn loved a good game of cards and was known as quite the card shark. She loved being outdoors and her treasured time at the lake with family, attending church services at St. Tim’s, and long phone calls with her brothers and sisters. Her baked goods were legendary—especially her coffee bread and caramel rolls—and she was always ready to lend a helping hand. A devout Catholic, Marilyn held firmly to her faith and looked forward to the joyful reunion she is now having in Heaven.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, John and Amelia Ritter; her 11 brothers and sisters; and her beloved husband, Lyle.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Steven; her daughter, Lynn (Dave); and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A celebration of life for Marilyn will be held on Friday, October 23rd, 2026, at St Timothy Catholic Church, 707 89th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55434, with visitation at 10:00 am and the service to follow at 11:00 am.
Marilyn will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Lyle, at Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
