Nicholas "Nick" G. Schneidermann
September 20, 1939 – June 28, 2019
Nicholas Gerdes Schneidermann was born on September 20th, 1939 in northern Minnesota at the family farmhouse in Kelliher to Gerd and Cecelia Schneidermann. Raised in the woods on the farm brought a variety of adventures to young Nick. Hunting and field work were memories Dad often spoke about. Dad shared stories of his growing up years, one was where a bear had come into the farmyard and was taking a pig under its arm. Also trading raspberries and potatoes for fish with the local Ojibwe Indian Tribe.
Nick graduated from Kelliher high school in 1958. That summer he worked with a road crew in Iowa. In 1959 brought a new experience for Nick when he joined the U.S. Army for 3 years. He enjoyed the army and was always first to volunteer for assignments. During his army time he was stationed in Germany when the iron curtain was being built. He was also stationed in Washington state where he was invited to a revival meeting. The gospel was presented there; and Nick realized his need for a Savior and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
In 1963 he met his future wife, Betty. On January 4th, 1964 they were married. Cindy came along in 1965 and then Kevin in 1967.
Nick worked in various service industries throughout his life. He worked for 26 years in the vending machine industry. He then worked 10 years for Nardini making fire extinguishers and retired from there. Nick thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family. He was married to Betty for 55 ½ years. Ballgames and hunting trips to the land with his grandsons every year were a highlight in his life. Along with listening to his granddaughter playing piano and violin. Going on our annual family campouts he would share his stories with the family.
Along with family, friends and church family, the YMCA and McDonalds, dad enjoyed greeting and striking up a conversation with any and all whom he met.
He was looking forward to being a great-grandpa and another Schneidermann to carry on the family name.
Nick was a man who deeply loved his Lord and Savior and his family, and we will all greatly miss him.
