Roland Frank Thompson

Roland was born in Madison, Minnesota on November 5, 1941. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Elizabeth Thompson; his parents, Ludvig and Velma (Fisher); his brothers, William”Bill” and Gerald "Jerry" Thompson; and his niece Brenda.

He is survived by his children, Bill (Chris), Tammy (Doug), and Melissa; his grandchildren, Derrick, Nick, Josh (Tess), Michelle (Chris), Brandon (Amanda), Kohl (Kim), Andrew (Taylor), and Madison (Nick); great-granddaughters, Letty, Olivia, Heidi, Ellie and Layla; nieces, Marsha and Michelle”Micky”; and nephew, Mike.

Skip will be remembered as a devoted husband, a dedicated father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He spent his career as a proud member of the Local 49ers Union and took great pride in his work. He enjoyed fishing, loved cars, camping and cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family and friends. His greatest joy came from his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to his life. Skip's kindness, quiet strength, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Please join us in celebrating Skip's life on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids, MN. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm, followed by a service time at 3:00pm, with refreshments to follow.

A private inurnment will take place at the Church of the Visitation Cemetery in Danvers, Minnesota, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Karen.
