Tammi Fredrickson, 53, of Coon Rapids, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2019.

The Honorable Tammi Fredrickson of Coon Rapids, beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, and avid REO Speedwagon fan, passed away June 3, 2019. Tammi was born in Sudbury Ontario and spent her childhood years in Capreol, Ontario and then Hibbing, Minnesota.

She is survived by Husband, Tom; Children, Kate and Mike; Sister, Wendy (Rob) Hayes; and Mother-in-law, Dee Dee.

She was preceded in death by Parents, Ross and Eda; and Father-in-law, Glen.

Tammi leaves behind friends too numerous to mention including the Investors, the Island Lake crew, the Thursday Night crew, and many friends made through her children’s youth sports. She also leaves dear family throughout Ontario, including Toronto, Sudbury, Cornwall, and Parry Sound.

Appointed as a judge in the Tenth Judicial District by Governor Tim Pawlenty in 2006, Tammi served her community until her death. She is a former City Attorney for Coon Rapids. Tammi graduated from William Mitchell College of Law, J.D. (magna cum laude) and the University of Minnesota, B.A. As a judge, Tammi was most proud of co-founding the Anoka County Veterans Court (helping vets access resources available to them and address their outstanding legal issues) and training and mentoring new judges across the state of Minnesota.

A special thank you from the family to the University of Minnesota Oncology and Palliative Care teams and the staff at J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center, The Breath of Hope Lung Foundation, or to the discretion of the family.

Details on a reception to be hosted by the family will be shared at a later date.

Judge Tammy called herself the "Mean Judge" when it was her turn at Veterans Court but she was never mean unless it was needed.
I have been a long time volunteer Mentor for the court and will sorely miss her smile and humor. I only wish she had shared her illness with us so we could have shown her how much she was appreciated and Loved. When I see her again I'm gonna scold her for that.
Sadly the Lord has called one of the good ones home way too soon. R.I.P. Dear Lady we miss you.

I was very saddened to hear this news.

I had the honor and privilege of working alongside Tammi in the Anoka County Courts. I always appreciated her attention to detail, caring but firm nature, and her quick wit. I will miss our conversations.

To her family, no words can ever make the loss of a loved one any easier, but know this... Your sacrifice in sharing her with all of us had a tremendous impact on many lives. The world was a better place with her in it.

Thank you for that.

Tammi and I were 10th District colleagues for 10 years. I had the pleasure of seeing her develop into an exceptional judge. She embodied the wisdom, knowledge, dignity and humanity that we other judges strive for. Her passing leaves a void that will impact the bench for a long time.
To Tammi’s husband and children, I am so sorry for your loss.

I am one of Tammi’s colleagues on the Anoka Bench. I have known her for over 25 years from the time when she was an Assistant City Attorney (and I was an Assistant Anoka County Attorney). Everything others have already said about her is true. Tammi would help anyone, any time, however she thought she could. Sometimes she and I butted heads, but she was always kind, thoughtful, and respectful. She listened and tried to understand others’ points of view: the hallmark of a great judge. I miss her so much.

I was Tammi's scheduling clerk for most of her time on the bench in Anoka, she was great to work with. She always treated everyone with kindness and as an equal. In her last months of life I would send her e-mails to see how she was doing and she always said she was doing fine, not wanting to make me sad. She will be deeply missed by all that met her. I send condolences to her family and friends.

Tammi will be remembered forever in my family. She took time out of her weekend to marry my wife and I on March 25th, 2018in a private ceremony at the courthouse. I also knew her as a wonderful co-worker (City of Coon Rapids) and later such a positive addition to the bench in the 10th district. Tammi remained the same loving, energetic and positive person the entire time I knew her. Tom, Kate and Michael, we are so sorry for your loss. You will be in our thoughts and prayers for weeks and months to come.

I have very fond memories of Tammy and her family visiting us in Ontario during the summer months. We had a lot of family BBQ’s and just enjoyed getting together.
You and your family are in our hearts during this sad time.

I first met Tammi when we were classmates at William Mitchell. In the years since then I have appeared in her courtroom many times. She was an exceptional judge, always courteous, thoughtful and fair. She was also an extraordinarily kind human being. She will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to her family and friends. I am so sorry,
