Wayne A. Wilmot passed away July 29, 2024 at Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, Arizona, after a long battle with heart issues. He was born March 16, 1943, in Orchard Iowa, the son of Frank A. Wilmot Jr. and Mildred Ruth (Balsley) Whitcomb. He graduated from Austin High School in 1961 and was married to Dee Ann Lange that December. He joined the Air Force and they moved to Modesto California. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, the couple moved back to Austin, Minnesota. Wayne worked at Hormel Foods until the couple divorced in 1986 and then moved to Coon Rapids where he was a Labor Forman for Uni-Systems, Inc. One of his most memorable jobs there was working at NASA being part of the team that installed the missile launch doors. His next adventure was creating his own company, W.A.W Maintenance that serviced high rise complexes in the Twin Cities. Lastly, he worked as head maintenance at Falls and Pinnacle high rise in Minneapolis.
Wayne spent his off hours in northern Minnesota where he enjoyed his time by the lake, sitting by the fire, fishing, and ATV trail rides. He also enjoyed sharing great meals with family and friends and was known by all as a generous man. During his retirement he moved to Arizona where he spent time with his fiancée Linda Kistler. They enjoyed ATVing in the mountains and exploring Arizona. He also enjoyed working on their home and helping all the neighbors with his handyman skills.
He is survived by his fiancée, Linda Kistler of Apache Junction, AZ; his son, Wayne F. Wilmot (Barb Zeller) of Alden; his daughter, Susie (Monte) Kuehl of Madison Lake; two grandchildren, Michelle (Ben) Meyer and Cherie (Matt) Morgan and 9 great grandchildren, Anabelle, Lillyana, Elliana and Anarose Meyer, Lauraelai, Raleigh, David, Monica and Ophelia Morgan.
Bonus children, Scott (Carol) Wilson, Wade (Donna) Wilson, Darcy (Randy Reichel) Wilson; 3 bonus, grandchildren, Casey Wilson, Taylor Wilson and Chad Wilson; Bonus children, Jon (Sunny) Nelson, Kurk (Diny) Nelson; 5 bonus grandchildren, Macarthy (Paige) Nelson, Charlie Nelson, Millie Nelson, Oliver Nelson, Ethan Nelson; and 1 bonus great-grandchild Grainger Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his, father, Frank Wilmot Jr.; mother, Millie Whitcomb; stepfather, Don Whitcomb; ex-wife Dee Wilmot; loving companion, Joyce Wilson (2008), numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Gearhart Funeral Home (11275 Foley Blvd., NW., Coon Rapids, MN) Visitation will be 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow the service.
A private Interment will be held in Orchard, Iowa at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to donor's favorite charity.
