Carmelina Lauria

Carmelina Lauria, beloved wife, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and treasured member of her family and community, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of memories cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Carmelina is finally reunited with her loving husband, Carmelo, and reunited with her siblings, Carmelo, Rosa Cona, Maria Licata, and Carmela Lauria.

Born in Licata, Sicily, to her loving parents, Angelo and Carmela, Carmelina carried with her the warmth, traditions, and values of her Italian heritage throughout her life. She eventually made her home in Copiague, New York, where she built a life centered around family, friendship, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.

Carmelina was a talented seamstress and worked many jobs throughout her life, always taking pride in her work and the skills she shared with others. She was also an active member of the Babylon Town Seniors in Copiague, where she enjoyed the companionship and friendships she formed within her community.

Those who knew Carmelina will remember her love of life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed word-search puzzles, playing bingo, and, especially, a good game of Scopa. She treasured time spent with family and friends and had a special love for her pets, Gillies and her late Chloe.

Family was always at the heart of Carmelina’s life. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Angelo Cona, Joseph Cona, Vincent Cona, Carmelo Cona, Anna Maria Cona, Isabella Fitzpatrick, Angelo Licata, and the late Carmela Lauria.

She was a cherished great-aunt to Christina Earhardt, Salvatore Cona, Rose Marie Saleh, the late Michelle Cona, Sandra Cona, Michael Cona, James Fitzpatrick, Kimberly Steinkopf, Brianna Pawlusiak, Frank Licata, Tiffany Licata, Angelo Licata, and Stephanie Saccente.

She was also blessed with a generation of great-great-nieces and nephews, including Dominick Cona, Giselle Cona, Leila Saleh, Jordan Saleh, Jaden Saleh, Sofia Saccente, Vincent Saccente, Milo Steinkopf, Luciano Licata, and Violet Fitzpatrick.

Carmelina’s life was one of family, perseverance, friendship, and the everyday moments that become treasured memories. Her warmth and love will live on through the many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and generations who were fortunate enough to know her.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Outreach Program.

Visiation will be held at D'Andrea Bros.Funeral Home, 99 Oak Street, Copiague, NY 11726, US, on August 17, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 1 Molloy St, Copiague, NY 11726, US, on August 18, 2026, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.

Burial will take place at The Green-Wood Cemetery, 25th St, New York, NY 11232, US, on August 18, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
