Mrs. Janssen was born in Woodside, Queens, to her late parents, Henry and Margaret Bornkamp. She grew up in Woodside Queens. She met her future husband, Walter; at a soda shop.
They married in St. Mary's and made their home in Farmingdale, where they raised their family.
In her years of work, she served many years with the Equitable Insurance Company in Melville, where she retired as a Supervisor. Caroline enjoyed bowling, Yankees' baseball, crossword puzzles, the computer, spending time with her children and grandchildren, going out to eat at Applebee's and shopping.
Surviving is her husband, Walter; and her children - Carolyn Janssen, Billy and Kathy Janssen, Joanne and Pete Kennedy and Barbara Tortoso. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Angela (Paul) Chiarella, Billy (Andrea) Janssen, Joseph (Hailey) Janssen, Tina (Tommy), Vicki (Brian) Hanlon and Jessica (Doug); and great-grandmother to Dylan, Kiley, Nicholas, Giana and Billy.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, August 23rd from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. The Catholic Wake Service will be offered at 7:00 p.m., by Deacon Francis of St. Killian's R.C. Church of Farmingdale. On Friday, August 24th, Funeral Prayers will be offered at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, and the procession will depart for Calverton National Cemetery by 10:30 a.m.
