Carlo, born and raised in Brooklyn, passed leaving behind a life defined by honor, quiet integrity and strength. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served his country with dignity post WWII with time served in Berlin, Germany. Carlo carried that same sense of duty through every chapter of his life.
He was born in Brooklyn to his late parents, Giacomo and Carmila. He was raised there, attending and graduating from public and vocational school, making Kings County home throughout his adult life. His career path took him into electrical contracting, where he began and ran his own business; dedicating his professional life to one of skill, reliability and integrity throughout his career.
Carlo had a lifelong passion for collecting stamps and coins. He was a recreational historian of WWII, immersing himself in all types of literature and photos of the era. And it was this love of history that brought him to another cherished hobby – building model airplanes. His home was filled with over 100 painstakingly crafted models – each one hanging from the ceiling in tribute to the past that he so admired.
Family and friends knew Carlo as a sharp dresser and a true gentleman – a man who unwaveringly carried himself with kindness and grace at all times. He was never prone to anger, nor held a grudge. His perfectly-tailored style, even his casual jeans were pressed and creased – gave to his timeless sense of pride and style. His life reflected loyalty, craftsmanship and warmth. He will be remembered for his passions, his gentlemanly nature, life of inspiration and purpose, and the love he shared with those fortunate to have known him.
Carlo is pre-deceased by his late wife, Yolanda; and his siblings – Mary Saracino, Ann Zappola, Thomas Saracino, Rose Fabbricante and Kathryn Agugliaro. He is lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Sunday, November 30th, from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the D’Andrea Bros. Funeral Home in Copiague.
