Edward was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 20, 1930, to the late John Giafone and Margaret Clancy. A proud veteran, Edward served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War from July 1948 to February 1952.
Edward was the beloved husband of the late Theresa Giafone, who passed away in 2019. Together they shared 68 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, devotion, and family.
He was a devoted father to John (Mariam) and Edward (Janice), a loving grandfather to Christopher (Nicole), Matthew, and Andrew, and a cherished great-grandfather to Luca, with another great-grandson eagerly anticipated, due February 7th.
Edward was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph Giafone, Teresa Baccellieri, and Rose Marie Domingo.
Known affectionately as “Ed” to the world, he was lovingly called “Pomp” by his family—a name that reflected the deep bond he shared with them. Edward’s life truly revolved around his family, who were his greatest joy and proudest legacy.
In his free time, Edward enjoyed exercising and staying active. He was also famously known for his delicious chicken cutlets and his beloved “gravy” (sauce), meals that brought family together and created lasting memories around the table.
Edward John Giafone will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his strength, warmth, dedication to family, and the love he shared so generously.
