Mr. Curto was born in Queens to his late parents, Frank and Helen Curto. After meeting his future bride Laura "Bubbles" they married in 1955. After they married, they bought their family home in Amity Harbor; where they raised their five children. In 1957 Frank served in the United States Army. His beloved wife Laura passed away in 2003. Frank was retired from his career with B & B Electro in West Babylon.
His boys regaled stories of the days of Little League and Big League baseball. As the kids grew up, Frank was an avid part of their time in sports. He loved playing ball with the boys, and served as Coach to their teams in the Copiague Youth League. As they got older, trips to Yankee Stadium were cherished time together. Frank enjoyed playing drums, and was a dedicated member of the band "The Mark V". Frank loved to fish and crab. Tanner Park and Cats Alley were two favorite places to relax, enjoy the day with his family, and even lose a fishing pole or two. Gardening and cooking were another two favorite past times. All his kids boast about his pizza and lasagna; where sauce was made from his own home-grown tomatoes from his garden. His fig tree, which stood against two major hurricanes, still produces awesome fruit.
Frank is survived by his children - his daughter, Ellen McQuillin and son-in-law, John; son, Frank, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Suzanne; daughter, Gina Lewis and son-in-law, John; son, Doug and daughter-in-law, Tanya; and daughter, Kelly. His is cherished by his grandchildren - Jennifer and her husband, Rafael; Melissa, Michelle, Caitlin, Sarah, Johnny, Hailey Rose, Doug, Jr., Nicholas, Tanyamarie, Laura and Christopher; and his great-grandchildren - Nicole and Rafael, Jr. Also surviving is his brother, Pietro; and his sister, Helen. In addition to his beloved wife, Laura, Frank is also predeceased by his sisters - Vera, Geraldine and Rosie.
Famiy and friends will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 p.m. On Thursday, a Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of the Assumption R.C. Church in Copiague at 9:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
