Irene was the beloved wife of Robert Ruland, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family and created countless memories that will remain treasured forever.
She was the devoted mother of Debra and Ralph Capan, Robert Ruland, Donna and Dennis Ciranni, Steven Ruland, Brian Ruland, and Thomas and Dawn Ruland. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great pride in watching her children and grandchildren grow.
Irene was a cherished grandmother to Michael, Nicole, Branden, Brett, Zachary, Emily, Bryan, Tony, Jayson, Jordyn, and Marisa. She especially treasured the time she spent babysitting her grandchildren and being an important part of their lives.
Throughout her life, Irene was always willing to give her time and talents to others. She volunteered with the Friends of the Library and was active with her church. Irene was very patriotic and took her right to vote seriously. She would diligently do her part working at the polls and making sure everyone was registered to vote. She also held various clerical and administrative positions during her working years.
Irene enjoyed many simple pleasures. When her children were young, she coached a softball team, served as a Girl Scout leader, and participated in a bowling league. She loved knitting, crocheting, and crafting, always finding joy in creating something special.
She especially loved the holidays and family get-togethers, when everyone could come together and enjoy one another's company. Irene also loved to travel and treasured the trips she shared with family and friends.
Irene will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her generous heart, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, siblings, family, and friends, who will forever carry the lessons of love and kindness she shared with them.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held at D'Andrea Bros.Funeral Home, 99 Oak Street, Copiague, NY 11726, US, on August 20, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at External Service Location, 1 Molloy St, Copiague, NY 11726, US, on August 21, 2026, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.
Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735, US, on August 21, 2026, from 11:15 am to 11:45 am.
