Joanne Besemer, a long-time resident of Lindenhurst, L.I., died Wednesday, July 4th, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 67 years old.

I was Joanne's cousin and I actually met her for the first time on a bowling league at Babylon Bowl and she came right up to me and said we have the same last name and we figured out we were related through marriage and it was an instant connection. I truly admired Joanne she was an amazing women so smart and talented she taught me about gardening and every time I look at my blueberry bush I think of her. We had so much fun shopping and I will treasure all those shopping days. She really loved her family that is what I loved talking to her about and our chinese food nights were the best I wish I had more. Love you Joanne and you will be truly missed.<3

Joanne and I went through school together. I was a year ahead of her. I remember when she and Richie started dating, they seemed the perfect match. After graduation we met up again as our children were attending elementary school together. Her brother Andy was a friend of my brother in high school. We reminisced and she told me about her son Andy. She was always a lady, full of grace, no matter what life dealt her. Heaven has a beautiful new angel. Until we meet again, Rest In Peace.

I was Joanne's son, Andy's 6th grade Social Studies teacher. We were doing a project on Electing the President and Political Parties. Joanne sent Andy in dressed as Uncle Sam carrying a political sandwich sign. I wish I had a picture. He looked so cute. Richie and Joanne are great parents. Andy was wonderful as well.💔🌹
