Mr. Hawkins was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, to his parents, the late Dewitt and Fannie (nee Shepherd). He was a proud veteran, having served our country in the United States Army. In his career, he retired from the Commercial Food industry.
He is predeceased by his wife, Leila; and is survived by his children - William Hawkins, Dawn Collins and son-in-law, Keith; Patricia Wilson and son-in-law, Maurice; and Joseph and daughter-in-law, Tracie. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, August 2nd, from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 p.m. A Prayer Service will be offered at the funeral home on Friday morning, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Army Ceremonial Guard.
