Margaret Kucera

Mrs. Margaret Kucera, of Copiague, L.I., died Wednesday, August 29, 2012.

Mrs. Kucera, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, enjoyed being a homemaker; but gave so unselfishly of herself to so many. She was a Co-founder of the Copiague Homemakers Extension - Evening Unit, which met at the Great Neck Road School, which still carries on today. She was a member of the Thomas Poldino Chapter of the DAV Ladies Auxiliary of Lindenhurst. At home in Copiague, Mrs. Kucera served our community's children as a Cathechist for Our Lady of the Assumption Church for 20 years as well as a member of the Rosarians; and was extremely active in Copiague Girl Scouts.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald, who passed in 1999; brother George Schaefer; and son-in-law Alexander DiGiacomo. Surviving are her daughters - Linda Szakmary and son-in-law, John; and Marylynne DiGiacomo. Also surviving are her grandchildren - Jared Szakmary, Corey DiGiacomo and Kelsey DiGiacomo; her brothers - Charles Schaefer and Frederick Schaefer (Martha); and her sisters - Elizabeth Szczurowski (Tadeusz); Eleanor Curadi, and Georgianna Gruessing (Joseph).

Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Friday, August 31st, from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, September 1st, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Copiague at 10:15 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
