Rita Elise Crane, lovingly known as Elise by her family and friends, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at the age of 91. She was a woman of quiet strength, deep devotion, and unwavering love, someone whose grace touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born on November 24, 1933, Elise lived a life rooted in compassion, resilience, and purpose. She was the devoted wife of the late David A. Crane, a proud serviceman whose 23-year military career she supported with steadfast loyalty. Their 61-year marriage was a true partnership anchored in mutual respect, enduring love, and shared values.
Elise was a loving and devoted mother to three children: Andrea J. Crane, John D. Crane (Karen), and Sharon L. Scubla (Mario) Her greatest joy was seeing them thrive, and she took profound pride in their academic and personal accomplishments. Elise’s encouragement and boundless love helped each of them pursue and achieve their college degrees, a milestone she celebrated as their greatest advocate and biggest cheerleader.
To her grandchildren Sarah (Leta), Sydney, Connor, Benjamin, Emma, Maxwell, Daniel, and Elizabeth; Elise was more than just a grandmother. She was a gentle storyteller, a constant supporter, and a source of comfort and wisdom. Her warmth and presence will be forever treasured.
Elise is survived by her dear brothers, Cecil Sobers and Sir Garfield Sobers, and is lovingly remembered by the families of her late siblings George Sobers, Greta Jarvis, and Gerald Sobers. Her role as sister, aunt, and matriarch extended beyond her immediate family, touching generations with kindness and care.
A longtime member of St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Lindenhurst, NY, Elise drew deep spiritual strength from her faith and church community. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—gardening, cooking, and creating a welcoming home filled with love.
