With great sorrow and deep love, we share the passing of Susan Hodgkinson, who left this world on June 25th, 2025. She was a one-of-a-kind woman whose love, fire, and authenticity touched everyone who knew her.
Susan’s life was shaped by a rare and enduring love. She met her husband, Paul “Dougie” Hodgkinson, when they were teenagers growing up together —Their bond was immediate and enduring. Susan married Paul in Argyle Park in 1981, beginning a journey rooted in devotion and friendship. In 1992, they stood together once again to receive the Catholic sacrament of marriage, reaffirming their commitment before God. Their love was constant, strong, and full of life — the kind that weathered time.
Together, they raised three children: Dani, David, and Stephanie. Susan was a devoted mother — warm, thoughtful, accepting, and fiercely encouraging. Susan made sure all her children were well rounded. Her children always felt seen, heard, and loved in her presence. She gave them not only her heart but also her fire — teaching them to live boldly and love deeply.
Susan was described by those who knew her best as a rebel — fun, outspoken, strong-willed, and smooth-talking, with a spirit that couldn’t be contained. She lived unapologetically, never afraid to be exactly who she was. Her authenticity made others feel comfortable in their own skin. She was the life of every room, yet also the person who made you feel like the most important one in it.
She shared an unbreakable bond with her late father, Billy, who predeceased her. Their days together were filled with adventure and joy — riding horses, going crabbing, and simply being in each other’s company. That closeness and love shaped so much of who Susan became.
Susan’s legacy is one of bold love, enduring strength, and vibrant presence. She is survived her husband of 44 years, Paul; their children Dani (Picaro), David, and Stephanie; and her meowser: Mr. Dink, and all who were lucky enough to know her and be known by her.
