Barbara Anne Borthwick, 79 years old of Irving, Texas (formerly of Stafford, Virginia) went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 9, 2021. She died peacefully at Carrollton Medical Center Hospice.
Barbara was born on November 5, 1941, in Jersey City, New Jersey to Leonard H. Brown and H. Eileen Brown. She was the third of five children. She attended high school at Central Catholic in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She moved back to Jersey City, New Jersey her senior year and graduated from St. Michael’s High School.
Barbara met and married William Elliott “Bill” Borthwick on September 12, 1964. They resided in Manville, New Jersey where they raised their four children. In 1990, they moved to Stafford, Virginia and remained there until 2019 when they relocated to Irving, Texas.
Barbara was a stay-at-home mother until her youngest son was 10 years old. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her life including retail. She was an avid artist, enjoying card making which she considered to be her ministry. She enjoyed travelling with Bill to visit friends and family, as well as several trips abroad.
Barbara was also a lifetime member of the Catholic Church. Due to her strong faith, she was active in serving others and considered a prayer warrior by many. She enjoyed participating in Bible study and multiple prayer groups.
Barbara is survived by William, her husband of 57 years, four children Deborah Borthwick Hinson (Ed), William Elliott Borthwick, Jr. (Karen Vega), Susan Borthwick Cascioli (Daniel), and Gregory Michael Borthwick (Lisa Carr), and five grandchildren Natalie Hinson, Jacqueline Hinson, Matthew Cascioli, Samantha Borthwick, and Angelina Cascioli. She is also survived by siblings Judith Roeger, Richard Brown (Ginny), David Brown (Nancy), Andrea Brown, sister-in-law Patricia Hinderliter, and sixteen nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life for Barbara at 10:00 am CT on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church Ministry Center in Coppell, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House at www.covenanthouse.org.
