Funeral services will be held in Texas and are being handled by Rolling Oaks Funeral Home, 400 Freeport Parkway, Coppell, TX 75019. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211, in Section 88.
Born on March 12, 1944, in Paris, Tennessee, Barbara was the daughter of the late Henry Edward Akers and Allie Windoleen Akers. While she lived in several states throughout her life, including Indiana and Illinois, Barbara was a longtime resident of Dallas and Denton Counties, Texas, where she made her home for many years before moving to North Carolina.
Barbara is survived by her son, Barry Paxton Reynolds (Sonya) of Clinton, North Carolina; her daughter, Sandra Dawn Alfaro of Clinton, North Carolina; two brothers, Randy Nelson of Minnesota and Sammy Lee of Michigan; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Wayne Reynolds of Corinth, Texas, and two brothers, Joseph Edward Akers and Lanny Dean Akers of Michigan.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their compassionate care and support.
