Died: April 10th, 2016 in Carrollton, Texas
Billy was raised by a single mom with his two siblings, Marie and Jim. His mom had little education and resources, and Billy quit school in the 8th grade to help earn money for the family.
He joined the Army in 1946, and was honorably discharged in March 1947. He served with the 1504th Army Air Force Unit at the Fairfield Suisun, California Air Force Base. His job included assisting food transport to the people of Japan and South Korea following World War II.
Billy met Catherine Tucker in St. Louis and they married on August 13th, 1949 in Dallas. They had one son, Mark.
He went on to work for Woodmen Accident & Life Insurance for 49 years. He also worked for 35 years contiguously with Borden Hammon Agency. He received numerous awards and recognition through the years.
Billy and his wife were active members of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Oak Cliff for 30 years, and Billy served in numerous capacities including church finances, usher, Sunday School teacher, and coach/manager of the adult softball league. For the last 10 years he and his wife attended Stonebriar Church in Frisco.
He was held in high esteem by everyone – church friends, business associates, his insurance clients, and his family. He was generous in giving to his church and charitable needs.
Billy is predeceased by his wife, Catherine Gladys Tucker Wolfe; and by his siblings, Willie Marie Wolfe Elliot and Jim Dixie Wolfe.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kay Wolfe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Friday, April 15th, 10 AM at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, April 14th, 6 to 8 PM.
