Charlie Frederick Blank, III, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2018. He was born on December 23, 1938 in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana where he graduated from Byrd High School and then proceeded to gain his Bachelor of Science degree in Baton Rouge at Louisiana State University and later his Certified Public Accountant license and Master of Business Administration from University of Dallas. It was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana that he met and married his wife of 57 years, Kathryn Broussard Blank. Charlie and Kathy have four children and six grandchildren. Charlie was a kind, intelligent man of many talents and virtues. He had a long career as a leading computer programmer, accountant and business leader. In his retirement he continued to work as a professor of accounting for Kaplan University. Charlie had a strong work ethic and was a known role model across his large family and beyond, distributing wisdom and life lessons that shaped and impacted everyone who knew him. He was the happy kind of person that woke up early every morning singing a song. He was also avid about his hobbies that included working in his shop or trying to fix anything that needed fixing; fishing, LSU sports, playing chess and card games; and his lifelong passion with sailing. But most of all his number one focus that was clearly known by anyone and everyone was his wife, children and grandchildren. He took care of us all.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Kathryn Broussard Blank, daughter Theresa Blank Buckley and grandchildren Lauren Buckley, Sarah Buckley and Reid Buckley; son Charlie Blank IV and daughter-in-law Toni Marcello Blank and granddaughter Marcella Blank; daughter Lisa Blank Knight and granddaughters Haley Knight and Emma Knight; daughter Angela Blank Parham and son-in-law Warren Parham.

To family and friends: This is not goodbye because I know you will carry me on with you. Use the lessons that I taught you and the live examples that I presented. Like me, I hope that you can be intelligent and have many talents and virtues. Have a strong work ethic and be known as a role model across your family and beyond. Distribute wisdom and life lessons that shape and impact everyone who knows you. Above all, be happy and wake up every morning singing a song. Be passionate about your hobbies. Mine were working in my shop fishing, LSU sports, playing chess and card games…and of course boating! But, most of all, was always my family. Kathy, my children and grandchildren, and my extended family and friends. Take care of them all as I took care of you. Live life to the fullest. Be happy.
