Dao Thi Trat

Trát Thị Đào was born on September 3, 1925, to Trát Quan Long and Tô Thị Tốt in Long An, Vietnam as a first child of the 3 children family. She migrated to the U.S. in 1985 and had lived in Texas since then. She passed away peacefully on May 2, 2019, in Dallas, Texas at the age of 93.
Bà Đào is a devoted mother, wife, and daughter, raising 7 children and always dedicating and scarifying for her family. She was a strong-willed woman and always put her family first; being strong-willed and putting family first are characteristics she passed on to her children. She was also an important role model for many of her grandchildren, in the U.S as well as in Vietnam. Bà Đào converted to Catholicism after married her late husband of more than 35 years and became a devoted Catholic.
Some of Bà Đào’s favorite times were family parties and holidays, anything that brought the family together. She enjoyed traveling, especially spending time at the beach and loved wearing fashionable clothing in her younger years. She was a remarkable cook, and her signature dishes were Gà Rô Ti, Sườn Ram, Bò Kho, and Cà Ri Gà. Her favorite songs were Cô Láng Giềng, Mộng Dưới Hoa, Dư Âm, and favorite singers were Thái Thanh and Thanh Thúy. She enjoyed reading novels and her favorite books were Đoạn Tuyệt and Nửa Chừng Xuân.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Trần Van Út, brother Trát Quan Tiên and Trát Quan Phấn, daughter Trần Thị Ngọc Mai and Trần Thị Thúy-Nga. Bà Đào survived by her loving and devoted children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: • Son in Law Ngô Văn Tấn husband of late daughter Trần Thị Ngọc Mai – granddaughter Ngô Thị Phương Thảo and husband Nguyễn Bá Cường; grandson Ngô Anh Kiệt and wife Kim Thị Thanh-Phương and great grandchild Ngô Thị Phương-Khanh; Ngô Anh Phụng and great grand-child Ngô Hồng Phát • Daughter Trần Thị Ngọc-Lan and husband Đoàn Hữu Lượng and grandchildren Michelle Doan and Louis Doan. • Daughter Trần Thị Hoàng and husband Phạm Ngọc Liễu and grandson Phạm Hoàng Lâm and wife Lê Kim Xuân-Nhạn, great grandchild Phạm Hoàng Bảo-Hân • Daughter Trần Thị Ngọc-Yến and husband Đỗ Quốc Tấn and grandchildren Đỗ Ngọc Thảo-Chi and Tiffany Do • Son Trần Anh Tuấn and wife Trần Thị Ngọc-Thũy and grandchildren Juliette Tran and Emily Tran • Son Trần Anh Dũng and wife Lizbeth Tran and granddaughter Tasha Tran
No daughter or son could have a better mother – We love you, Mom. You will live forever in our hearts. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 3-7pm at Rolling Oaks Coppell Funeral Home, Coppell, Texas. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 9-10:30am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ Vietnamese Church in Carrollton, Texas. Interment will follow at Rolling Oaks Coppell Cemetery.
