

Dennis Lawrence Tumminello passed away in his home on August 29, 2021. Born on November 27, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois to Nathan Lawrence and Betty Tumminello. Then, Dennis and his older sister Sandy , along with his parents moved to Clarks Green , Pennsylvania. Soon after the family again moved to Melborne , a city near the east coast of Florida. Dennis enjoyed surfing and crabbing near the Banana River with his friends. He also watched his Father build a boat in the Garage, with much amazement. His father Nathan worked at NASA , and his mother was a homemaker.
Dennis graduated High School at Eau Gallie and then earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering at the University of Florida. He then moved to Texas with wife Patty and son Paul . His career then began at Pearl Vision in 1976. In 1980 he became the president of Omega Optical, which later became Essilor, which designs, manufactures and markets lenses to correct or protect eyesight. Their headquarters were in France. There he made many friends that lasted a lifetime.
Dennis thoroughly enjoyed woodworking, and of course sports. He enjoyed watching baseball and football games immensely, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Also he played the guitar and played in a few bands. Lately he helped refurbish condos and homes, coordinating materials and workers with various talents and trades. He was a member of the senior center where he rode the stationary bicycle and participated in poker games.
Dennis is survived by his sister, Sandy Poper, his son Paul Tumminello, one Granddaughter Katherine Tumminello. He also has a half brother, Barry Garhammer living in Ohio. His uncles reside in Pennsylvania, which he recently visited for a family reunion. He spent a short time in the Navy, but was released due to a physical impairment. Dennis will be remembered, as a most intelligent and generous man who took great care of his loved ones and friends. As we begin to see beyond the pain , we sense how both sadness and joy are part of our lives.
A memorial service for Dennis will be held Monday, September 13, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home, 400 FREEPORT PKWY, COPPELL, TX 75019, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
