Joseph Dennis “Denny” O’Neill II, 77, died Wednesday, November 20, in Lewisville, Texas. Denny was born to Joe and Lena O’Neill on August 27, 1942 in Cameron, Texas. He graduated from Waco High School in 1960 and from Baylor University in 1966. On June 12th, 1965, Denny married his soulmate Mary Lou Piott in Waco, Texas. Denny spent his professional career in the medical records industry working for Blue Cross and Blue Shield and as an entrepreneur starting and growing independent companies PMS, Inc., Medical Interface Inc. and General Micrographics before retiring in 2008. Denny greatly enjoyed traveling on vacations with his wife Mary Lou. He was a very avid hunter his entire life and greatly enjoyed hunting with his friends and family. While he loved Baylor Bear football, anything associated with his Irish heritage and last name O’Neill, and many other interests, Denny “Grandpa” most enjoyed spending time loving and spoiling his grandchildren as much as possible. Denny is survived by his wife of 54 years, two sisters, Peggy O’Neill and Betty Jo Westhelle, aunt Barbara DeArmond, two sons, Brian and wife Angie O’Neill of Flower Mound, Texas, Craig and wife Mandy O’Neill of Coppell, one granddaughter, Lauren O’Neill, two grandsons, Duncan and Cameron O’Neill, two step grandsons, Blake and Trevor Miller and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other loved ones. Moved to Waco in 1956 about 2 blocks from Denny’s family. We often car pooled to school, learned to drive together and shared time at North Jr., Waco High and Baylor. A good friend who will be missed by many.

Denny was our eldest cousin with a total of 13 grandchildren on the Wied side.
The greatest thing Denny and Mary Lou did was to have the Wied family reunions at their house every year. If it wasn’t for that, our children would have never known their second and third cousins. I often wonder if the reason they left Lorena was because the boys have left home or they wouldn’t have to host the reunions any longer. Such great memories.
Thanks O’Neills.

I met Denny in 1954 when my family moved to Waco. Denny and his family were our backyard neighbors. Denny and I became fast friends and spent a lot of time growing up together. I found an old picture of Denny (left) and I in some of our Boy Scout gear. I believe Denny's mom took the picture around 1955 in front of their house. Courtney and I enjoyed getting together with Mary Lou and Denny to share memories, a few drinks and whatever Denny was cooking on the barb-b-que. Denny was definitely the "Grill Master". I will miss my friend.

We were so saddened to hear of Denny's passing. We so enjoyed our time in Waco and getting to know Denny and Mary Lou. In addition to his many other great qualities, Denny was an outstanding Patriot. He will be missed by all who knew him.
