GEORGE PARTRIDGE SABINE IV (Age 70) Lt. Colonel, U.S. Army (Ret.) Longtime resident of Fairfax County, Virginia, husband of Jacquelyn M. (Sankel) Sabine, passed away on the 7th of May, 2020. He was born June 23, 1949 in Port Jefferson, NY. He was the son of George P. Sabine III and Marie (Schaaf) Sabine and the oldest of three children. After graduation from Newfield High School, George attended Niagara University on a full Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship, where he played varsity soccer and majored in Physical Education, receiving his BS in 1971.
Also during his college years, George married the love of his life, another Niagara student named Jacquelyn Marie Sankel of Spencerport, NY. Together they embarked on a 22 year global adventure, provided by George’s successful career as an Army Officer. During this time he expanded the family to include a daughter, Nicole; lived on 2 continents but explored several more; earned an MBA from Syracuse University; and fully seized every opportunity to serve others, laugh out loud, play golf, or snow-ski. He will long be remembered for the humor he used to coach his family through life.
George is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Jacquelyn; a daughter, Nicole and her husband, Sam Finger; and a grandson, Andrew. All are residents of Coppell, TX. George is also survived by his mother, Marie; a sister, Holly and her husband, Gil Bowen. All are residents of Wilmington, NC. George’s nieces and nephews are settled all over the country and will remember their Uncle dearly.
George will be interred at DFW National Cemetery. This will be a private ceremony due to COVID-19 concerns.
