June 23, 1949 – May 8, 2020
GEORGE PARTRIDGE SABINE IV (Age 70) Lt. Colonel, U.S. Army (Ret.) Longtime resident of Fairfax County, Virginia, husband of Jacquelyn M. (Sankel) Sabine, passed away on the 7th of May, 2020. He was born June 23, 1949 in Port Jefferson, NY. He was the son of George P. Sabine III and Marie (Schaaf) Sabine and the oldest of three children. After graduation from Newfield High School, George attended Niagara University on a full Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship, where he played varsity soccer and majored in Physical Education, receiving his BS in 1971. Also during his college years, George married the love of his life, another Niagara student named Jacquelyn Marie Sankel of Spencerport, NY. Together they embarked on a 22 year global adventure, provided by George’s successful career as an Army Officer. During this time he expanded the family to include a daughter, Nicole; lived on 2 continents but explored several more; earned an MBA from Syracuse University; and fully seized every opportunity to serve others, laugh out loud, play golf, or snow-ski. He will long be remembered for the humor he used to coach his family through life. George is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Jacquelyn; a daughter, Nicole and her husband, Sam Finger; and a grandson, Andrew. All are residents of Coppell, TX. George is also survived by his mother, Marie; a sister, Holly and her husband, Gil Bowen. All are residents of Wilmington, NC. George’s nieces and nephews are settled all over the country and will remember their Uncle dearly. George will be interred at DFW National Cemetery. This will be a private ceremony due to COVID-19 concerns.

Uncle George will be sorely missed! We had many happy memories together. My favorites were the time I attended American University in DC and was able to visit my Aunt Jackie and Uncle George. My 21st birthday was on Easter and I shared my first legal drink with him. He always had a good joke and loved to get into political arguments with me! I loved his smile and generosity toward me and even my friends who he and my Aunt hosted that year! I am happy that he has been released from his physical body so that he can enjoy eternity in heaven. I am sad that the world no longer has his smile. Here are some pictures I found of Uncle George and my 21st birthday! Love and prayers to you Aunt Jackie, Nicole, Sam & Andrew. Hugs and love from the Chaputs!
