

• Born on August 5th, 1935 and raised in a Korea that was initially occupied by Japan and then torn apart by the Korean War.
o He was the oldest of three children born to Won Bok Song and Jong Duk Noh.
o His father helped to fund and build the first church in his hometown of Kijang, South Korea.
• Married for more than 54 years to Kyung Ja Song (Lee)
• Together raised 4 boys in North Springfield, VA outside of Washington, DC.
o Louis is the co-owner of Proven Recruiting.
o Jim is an Artificial Intelligence Guru at T-Mobile
o Moses is a Digital Technology Entrepreneur
o John is a senior pilot at NetJets.
• Immigrated to Los Angeles on his own in 1971 and initially survived washing dishes and eating candy bars.
• Eventually made his way east and settled in the Washington, DC area where he was accepted into George Washington University’s program for Civil Engineering.
• For most of his working life, he worked at least 2 full-time jobs to support the family.
o He worked the graveyard shift for more than 20 years as a hotel engineer in Washington D.C.
o Owned and operated a laundromat / dry cleaning business 7 days a week for almost 10 years.
• He built a 3 story treehouse in the backyard that included electricity
• After retiring at the age of 65, he and Kyung spent the next 12 years serving as missionaries with Campus Crusade for Christ in Bangalore, India.
o He served at the Home of Hope where he comforted and ministered to the sick and dying during their last days and hours while Kyung ministered with local high school girls.
• He and Kyung eventually moved to Las Colinas of Irving, TX across the street from their youngest son John and his wife Elba where they bought their first new construction home and eventually joined Irving Bible Church
• Some of the ways that Hyung Song loved to help others included:
o Visiting and ministering to people with leprosy while still in high school
o Delivering flowers after church services to the bed ridden
o Taking out of guests on tours of Washington DC., Niagara Falls or the Appalachian Mountains.
o Helping multiple college students with tuition
o Praying with and for anyone who needed comfort and compassion.
• Psalm 23: 1-6 was his favorite Bible passage
In the end, he was content and wrote “HOLY SPIRIT LIVES IN ME” and “GOD LOVES ME”.
