Janet Margaret Otterson was born on April 14th, 1934 in a little blue house in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Nina and Glen Farmer. Four years later, they gave her a beautiful sister, Ruth. She grew up slow and sweet, learning piano, sewing, cooking, and spending summer nights laying on her back in the soft green grass gazing up at the Northern Lights. She also watched the planes and dreamt of a day when she could take to the skies. At age 18, her dream came true, and Northwest Airlines took her on as a young flight attendant. For many years, Jan worked as a stewardess until the day she met Warren Nels Otterson, a handsome Norwegian army doctor who swept her off her feet and became her husband of 55 years. They had four children, Jill, Brad, Beth and Timm and traveled the world to places like Japan, Indonesia, South Africa, Afghanistan, India, Kashmir, Singapore, Tahiti, Europe, Hong Kong, Argentina and more. In her later years, her children gave her some wonderful grandchildren that she loved dearly: Rebecca, Jason, Warren, Benn and Nels. She would also be blessed eight great-grandchildren: Finnigan, Theodore, George, Zane, Noah, Nash, Morgan and Connor. She is also remembered by her nephews Don and Mike Ward and niece Linda Gannon. In her latest days, she would spend time reading, sitting with her cat and being with her loved ones. Janet was a calm soul. She had an easy way about her and a big warm smile that would truly brighten up the room. She will be missed and her legacy will live on.
