

Jean was born on September 28, 1941, in Brisbane, Australia to Alexander and Jean Rorrison. Both of her parents migrated to Australia from Scotland. She grew up with two older brothers, James, and Alex.
Jean married Dr. Leo F. McNamara in 1968 in Brisbane and they moved to Boulder in June 1969 in time to see the Americans land on the moon. Their daughter Amy Jean was born in Boulder in 1970. Their son Douglas Edward was born in Sydney, Australia in 1972.
Jean attended the University of Queensland and received her degree in Social Work. She raised her children in the Blue Mountains, outside of Sydney, in Australia. She moved to the US and back to Australia numerous times. Her last move was to Dallas, Texas in 1989.
Jean was an amazing author and wrote many short stories, articles and four historical fiction novels for young adults. These books can be found in the Coppell Public Library and on Amazon. She began writing at a young age and continued until her late 70s. She loved young people and enjoyed writing stories for them.
She was a wonderful seamstress and made her children clothes for many years. She loved to quilt and made bed and doll quilts. She made dolls dresses which were raffled at Blaxland Presbyterian church where she attended church.
She loved animals and was a vegetarian for over 30 years. Her favorite animals were cats. Over her life she had seven cats.
She is survived by her two children and their spouses: Amy and Marcus Lopez and daughter, Fiona; Doug and Ande McNamara, and their children Cole and Kali. Her brothers Alexander Rorrison and James Rorrison are still living in Australia.
