Jerry was raised in Western Oklahoma and was a graduate of Carter High School. After graduation, he proudly joined the US Air Force. While in service, he received a National Defense Service medal and a Good Conduct medal. After 8 years of honorably serving our nation and then being discharged from the Air Force, he went on to serve as a special agent for the OSBI. He also held the title of Warden for Granite Reformatory for 11 years, later retiring as President from Avalon Corrections.
Jerry enjoyed watching football, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Gloria of Flower Mound, TX, daughter Memory Ostrander and her husband Phil of Collinsville, OK, son Shawn Sunderland and his wife Kristi of Yukon, OK, son Shay Sunderland and his wife Jill of St. Peters, MO, step-daughter Megan Hall and her husband Darien of Flower Mound, TX, step-daughter Stephanie Whitley and her husband Ben of Frisco, TX and step-daughter Amber Ellis and her husband Wesley of Oklahoma City, OK and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Jerry will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 1pm in the Chapel at Rolling Oaks Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11am. Burial will immediately follow the services in Rolling Oaks Memorial.
